New Haven building to be powered by a huge fuel cell

A new high-rise in New Haven, Conn., is to be powered by an 80,000-pound fuel cell the size of a freight car. The cell will provide clean energy for the building's 28,000 square feet of retail space and 500 apartments, and waste heat from the cell will be used to warm the building, helping to win the tower a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Platinum rating.
