N.J. course rallies for National Historic Landmark designation

New Jersey golf course Baltusrol hopes to join the elite list of U.S. golf courses listed as National Historic Landmarks. Baltusrol opened in 1895 and features designs from renowned architect A.W. Tillinghast. "The National Register and the National Historic Landmark designations provide various levels of protection from future outside development projects that could have a negative impact on the historic integrity of Baltusrol's two Tillinghast courses and its clubhouse," says Rick Wolffe, a member at Baltusrol and a club historian.
