Colombia leading Latin America in push for LGBT rights

Colombia, through an unlikely coalition of conservative and leftist politicians, is likely to become the first nation in Latin America to provide same-sex couples with the same social security, health and inheritance benefits as their straight counterparts. At the same time, Colombian gays and lesbians are living more openly, with a recent pride parade in Bogota attracting some 10,000 marchers.
