North Dakota researchers are trying to turn lignin into fuel

The University of North Dakota Energy & Environmental Research Center is developing ways to convert the lignin created from lignocellulosic ethanol production into synthetic fuels. Researchers are seeking to gasify the lignin to produce the fuel, but they acknowledge the need to work with biorefineries to improve the technology.
