Study: Intensive glucose care does not delay renal disease

Using aggressive methods to regulate blood glucose levels does not curb renal disease progression in older patients with type 2 diabetes, a study in Diabetes Care found. However, intensive glycemic control helped delay the progression of kidney damage in patients with microvascular eye disease, higher body mass and lower diastolic blood pressure, experts said.
