Federal government offers $120 million in Race to the Top grants

About $120 million in Race to the Top funds are up for grabs in the latest round of the federal competition, which again will be open to school districts. The Race to the Top grants will range from $4 million to $30 million, and officials say they expect to award 15 to 25 grants. The U.S. Department of Education last year distributed about $383 million in grants among 16 school districts.
