Hyatt Hotels' earnings rose to $112 million during the second quarter, from $39 million in the previous year, amid strong leisure and corporate demand in markets including North America. The hotel firm reported a systemwide 3.9% increase in revenue per available room during the quarter. "Occupancy was at peak levels in several markets. RevPAR was therefore driven by rate increases," Hyatt Hotels CEO Mark Hoplamazian said.
