Iowa's telemedicine program improves patient care, lessens costs

The Iowa Care Consortium announced that its "Keep it in Check" Iowa Medicaid Diabetes Program, which leverages a device-free remote patient monitoring tool, has successfully cut the total care costs of 650 enrolled patients by 18% in its first year and 32% in the second year. The health group also revealed that the claims paid over two years by the control group were $1.5 million more than those of the participants.
