"Eco-friendly" cigarette brand shows the limits of green marketing

The line on green marketing may have been crossed with Santa Fe Natural Tobacco's "eco-friendly" cigarettes. The company has wind-powered facilities and a hybrid-driving staff, but calling a tobacco brand green devalues the term, says Joel Makower of GreenBiz Group. "This is a perfect example of why green marketing is broken," he says. "Products that harm people should not be marketed as green."
