Crews conduct concrete repair work on pier in Marshall Islands

Rehabilitation work was recently completed for concrete portions of the damaged Ebeye Pier in the Marshall Islands after it was hit by a large cargo ship. Analysis showed that the original reinforced concrete deck panels had a steel ratio of 0.0092. "My concern after seeing the large amount of steel placed in the original concrete slabs was ensuring our repair would meet the under-reinforced condition required by the American Concrete Institutes code," said Lt. Cmdr. Charlie Kubic, who designed the repair.
