Female fliers weigh in on handbags as luggage

Discount carriers Tiger and Jetstar have weighed handbags as part of a flier's total luggage allotment, which is 10kg. Virgin Australia and Qantas do not count a handbag in their 7kg luggage limit. "Airlines should make it clear to consumers that when they are talking about baggage, they do mean handbags too," said Tom Godfrey, a consumer advocate.
