Opinion: Education policies should focus more on early learning

Education policies should be corrected to place more emphasis on early learning, according to Lisa Guernsey, the director of the Early Education Initiative at the New America Foundation. In this blog post, Guernsey cites research showing that the foundation for lifelong learning is well established by the time children are 8. Guernsey is calling for a more comprehensive approach to early-childhood education and more state-funded prekindergarten programs.
