Broadcasters ask for 180 days to meet EAS compliance

A wide array of broadcasting organizations have joined to request a 180-day extension beyond Sept. 30 for Emergency Alert System compliance with the FCC's Common Alerting Protocol. "[N]o EAS Participant should be required to purchase costly equipment without knowing whether it will be fully FCC compliant," the petition says.
