How cloud computing will transform how businesses see location data

Cloud computing could be just the ticket companies need to transform geospatial technology from a major capital expenditure to a managable operating expense, writes Joe Francica. By making data and software "rentable" in the cloud, companies can save on dedicated expenses and make technology more flexible, he notes. At the same time, it will be important for companies to continue to see location data as an asset that should be maintained, instead of a disposable product, he adds.
