Lenovo plans sub-$400 "netbook"

The Chinese computer manufacturer Lenovo has announced plans to sell a budget $399 laptop in October designed for users who want to perform basic tasks, such as Internet browsing and e-mailing. Demand for low-end notebooks is projected to increase from 430,000 in 2007 to 9.2 million units in 2012.
