N.J. shop owners say SBA loans are hard to obtain

U.S. Sen. Frank R. Lautenberg, D-N.J., walked the streets of South Orange last week with Frank Burke, of the New Jersey Small Business Administration, to talk to small-business owners about how they can get federally backed loans through their banks. Some of the small-business owners said they have had difficulty getting credit even through the SBA loan program. "These loans are there and available, but then they are not," said Terrence Brooks, owner of Vision Barber Salon, who was denied an SBA-backed loan.
