Deep seas face multiple threats

The last true wilderness on Earth, the deep sea, is being damaged by pollution, resource exploitation and climate change to the point of environmental crisis, according to the findings of a 10-year study. Scientists are calling for the designation of protected areas to conserve the deep sea ecosystem, which makes up some 73% of the oceans.
