Ill. governor OKs bill to build $2.3B clean energy coal facility

Gov. Pat Quinn has approved a bill that would support the construction of a modernized coal plant in southern Illinois, which is expected to generate employment of more than 1,000 construction workers, 300 permanent miners and 250 permanent facility employees. "This important project will help revive the coal industry in Southern Illinois while ensuring that Illinois remains a leader in the development of state-of-the-art, clean energy facilities," Quinn said.
