Noble Energy detects hazardous gas at Piceance Basin wells

A majority of Noble Energy's natural gas wells in the Piceance Basin are emitting hydrogen sulfide, which can be deadly at large doses, the company said. Noble may have failed to apply biocides in the wells to eliminate the hazardous substance, according to the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission. The company denied the agency's claim, saying it uses biocides and has trained workers about its use.
