Luminant storing Texas plant's used fuel in dry containers

Luminant has started transferring used nuclear fuel rods from the Comanche Peak nuclear plant in Texas into concrete containers. "The casks will sit here, at least until the federal government decides to create a permanent storage facility," said Craig Montgomery, the plant's project engineering manager. Mark Deinert, a nuclear engineering professor at the University of Texas, said such a storage plan is safe.
