Ore. school expands summer classes

The Corvallis School District in Oregon expanded its high-school summer program thanks to a grant from the Corvallis Public Schools Foundation. The district used the funds to offer additional make-up classes and launch an algebra prep class for incoming freshman. Teacher Brendan McMullen said summer classes provide more one-on-one assistance with fewer distractions, and help keep students on track for next-level math. "All of these kids are on track for geometry (classes) next year instead of Algebra I again," he said.
