Financial-reform law calls for 7 studies to protect investors

The financial-reform package mandates seven studies designed to help the government learn how to better protect individual investors. The Securities and Exchange Commission and the Government Accountability Office will study: brokers, dealers and investment advisers; investment adviser examinations; financial literacy among investors; mutual fund advertising; conflicts of interest; ways to improve investor access to information; and the use of financial designations by financial planners.
