DIRECTV finds antidote after tough second quarter

DIRECTV says sales are returning to normal levels after a sluggish second quarter that the company blamed on more intense competition, price increases and the economy. Chief Financial Officer Patrick Doyle said DIRECTV took corrective actions to reverse the slide. Executives blamed a lackluster slate for the performance of video-on-demand and other premium programming.
