J.C. Penney picks ex-Kraft exec to lead marketing

J.C. Penney has hired Debra Berman as its senior vice president of marketing as the brand continues its about-face from an always-low-price strategy to a discount-focused one. Berman was formerly the vice president of marketing strategy and engagement for Kraft Foods, and she is the "ideal leader" to help J.C. Penney re-engage customers through sales and discounts to build long-term loyalty, CEO Mike Ullman said.
