Foam injection lengthens tire's lifespan

In search of new products to boost sales during the economic downturn, a Florida-based distributor of lawn mower parts discovered a new system for injecting small tires with foam to keep them flat-free. "One problem lawn equipment has is tires breaking down, and this product maintains tires to last four times as long as regular tires," says Jim Poland of Edgewater Mower & Small Engine Service in Daytona Beach. Using technology from Arnco, Edgewater injects tires with a hot, white foam that hardens as it cools, giving the feel of an air-filled tire without the worries over punctures and leaks.
