Apple said to be mulling extension of iTunes payment processing

Apple is reportedly looking into extending its iTunes Store payment-processing system to a number of third-party sites, a move that would put the system in competition with Amazon, eBay, PayPal and others. The development would allow account holders at the iTunes Store to use their accounts to buy products and services from the other sites.
