Device makers develop technologies for infection prevention

Medical-device companies are developing new technologies designed to prevent hospital-acquired infections in response to a reimbursement regulation being implemented by the CMS for such infections. Cook Medical, for instance, introduced to the market a peripherally inserted central catheter that fights bloodstream infections using antibiotics.
