Judge denies request to halt sports betting in Delaware

A ruling by a federal judge will allow sports betting to start on schedule in September in Delaware. Judge Gregory Sleet also denied a request by professional sports leagues and the National Collegiate Athletic Association to halt sports betting while a lawsuit that seeks to stop nearly all sports betting in the state is pending. The judge has scheduled a trial for Dec. 7. Meanwhile, state officials say they are moving forward with a plan to offer sports lottery betting options by the opening of the NFL season.
