Nurse-managed care boosts diabetes control in study of veterans

Data on 556 veterans with diabetes found that those who were assigned to nurse case management had better blood pressure, glucose and lipid control than those who were given usual diabetes care. Experts said about 21.9% of managed patients achieved control in all three areas compared with only 10.1% in the usual-care group. The findings appear in Diabetes Care.
