Shell gets conditional approval for offshore Alaska drilling

Shell could drill in Alaska's Beaufort Sea in 2012 after receiving conditional approval for its drilling proposal from the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement. Shell's plan includes what it calls "the most robust Arctic oil spill response system known to industry." The federal approval is dependent on the company obtaining other necessary permissions.
