Feds seek to drive cybersecurity investments

Federal grants, increased legal protection and insurance are among the enticements federal agencies are mulling to drive private-sector investment in cybersecurity. Michael Daniel, the White House cybersecurity coordinator, has indicated the government is seeking feedback on ways to get companies to improve security measures. "While the set of core [security] practices have been known for years, barriers to adoption exist, such as the challenge of clearly identifying the benefits of making certain cybersecurity investments," Daniel wrote in a blog post.
