Machine builds furniture with thread

A machine inspired by the layer-by-layer process of 3D printers uses resin-soaked fiberglass thread to slowly build up a piece of furniture. Student Andrey Grishko’s invention was his final project at Shenkar College of Engineering and Design in Israel, combining product design, computer science and mechanical engineering. "As time passes design disciplines are melting into each other and the lines between them are disappearing," Grishko observed.
