Coalition asks Obama to curtail fracking operations

Environmental groups sent a letter to President Barack Obama urging him to stem hydraulic fracturing operations until potential health and environmental effects are widely considered. The groups say efforts by the Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Energy are not enough to address the matter, but the natural gas industry is dismissing such calls. Allegations of health dangers brought by fracking are unfounded because drillers are implementing all possible safety procedures in fracking operations, according to the industry.
