The "Sharknado" movie has been a colossal hit for Syfy, thanks in large part to the social media buzz surrounding its release and its repeat showings, writes Quinton O'Reilly. That buzz was possible in large part because Syfy had carefully cultivated an audience of online influencers and had built a reputation for buzzworthy action flicks such as "Ghost Shark" and "Mega Shark Versus Crocosaurus." "[I]t was that reputation that allowed it to be discovered in the first place, and allowed people to talk about it," O'Reilly writes.
