Facebook channels Twitter with celebrity content, trending topics

Facebook is on a mission to become more like Twitter, by persuading celebrities to post content on the network and by building Twitter-style tools, Peter Kafka writes, noting that the latest addition is trending topics, which are being tested and which appear to be directly modeled on Twitter's trending tool. "Facebook taking Twitter's lead isn't the sign of a leader, but the sign of a pragmatist. I think trending topics can help improve the immediacy of Facebook," says Patrick Moorhead of Moor Insights & Strategy.
