Massachusetts schools report varied results from longer days:

Lengthened school days were put to the test by two Boston-area schools last year, with mixed results. Parents at Brophy Elementary School commended the program, and it is believed to have improved students' academic achievement. At Cameron Middle School, however, teachers voted against continuing the extra hours. These results typify the state's difficulty in implementing the Expanded Learning Time Initiative.
