It's no joke: Onion tests pay wall for overseas readers

Satirical newspaper The Onion says it is testing a pay wall, modeled on the one employed by The New York Times, for users outside the U.S. Readers will get access to five free articles a month before being asked to pay $2.95 a month or $29.95 a year for a subscription. According to Chief Technology Officer Michael Greer, the publisher is waiting to see how users respond to the service before committing to it.
