Restaurants get creative with iconic American hot dogs

U.S. consumers down more than 7 billion hot dogs between Memorial Day and Labor Day, and some restaurants are getting more imaginative with toppings to spice up the standard summer sandwich. At Hippo's Hot Dogs in Clinton Township, Mich., the menu features six different options, from the classic mustard, relish, onion, tomato, pickle-topped Hippo Dog to a more exotic Southwestern-flavored offering covered in salsa and crunchy tortilla strips.
