CIOs face virtualization or native choice in iPad EHR adoption

The iPad explosion in health care has sparked calls among doctors to enable iPad access to hospitals' EHRs -- a trend that has many CIOs wrestling with whether to run a native EHR application, which integrates better with the mobile device, or virtualized tools that promise enhanced data security. "Different health care systems have different cultures, and different ways of doing things," so there's no one right approach to implementing iPad-based EHRs, Deaconess Health System CIO Todd Richardson said.
