Health officials urge hospitals to support quality initiative

New York state health officials urged hospitals to support the health reform law's $1 billion initiative to reduce preventable hospital-acquired infections by 40% and readmissions by 20%. HHS' Partnership for Patients includes $500 million for projects that improve patient care and promote best practices, which CMS adviser Dr. Nancy Nielsen said could save $50 billion over the next decade.
