Migrant worker dies from rabies; 41 Md. residents get vaccines after bat exposure

A migrant farm worker who contracted rabies from a vampire bat bite while in Mexico died in Louisiana this week, the first death in the U.S. from an aggressive variant of the virus that has an incubation period of just 15 days. Separately, 41 residents of two apartment complexes in the Aberdeen, Md., area have begun the vaccination process after officials determined that bat infestations in their buildings may have exposed them to rabies.
