Researchers develop system to correct attenuation in cardiac SPECT

Researchers at UCLA and the nuclear medicine company Digirad are collaborating to develop a system to correct soft-tissue attenuation in SPECT myocardial perfusion imaging. Using a combination of a low-dose X-ray generator and solid-state detectors, the researchers were able to create attenuation maps within a shorter imaging time and with minimal radiation dose to patients.
