Higher heart risk seen with diabetes plus ESRD

Diabetes patients with end-stage renal disease were more than twice as likely to suffer stroke and had more than a fivefold increased risk of myocardial infarction compared with patients without either condition, according to a study in Diabetes Care. The results indicate that screening for and controlling diabetes in patients who have ESRD is very important, the researchers wrote.
