PhRMA survey says: Cancer, heart disease, senior care are top consumer concerns

In a survey commissioned by the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America, 86% of respondents said they wanted to see cures for more forms of cancer as a top national health priority, with 78% calling for more effective heart disease treatments and 76% seeking more intensive medical care for seniors. A new focus on consumerism in health care makes these data significant. "The PhRMA research demonstrates once again that patient communication and engagement is key to better health outcomes," said Coalition for Healthcare Communication Executive Director John Kamp.
