Duke Energy pushes for approval of new plants in S.C.

Duke Energy Carolinas has successfully moved forward with its proposed plan to expand the Lee Nuclear Station and Cliffside coal plant, despite opposition from environmentalists. The Nuclear Regulatory Commission threw out a request from environmental group Friends of the Earth that asked the commission to reconsider its ruling that Duke's spending on planning for the Lee plant is prudent.
