Washington testing quieter pavement on Interstate 405

Washington State's Department of Transportation will install quieter asphalt as a test on Interstate 405 in Bellevue, Wash. The transportation department performed two previous tests of the quieter pavement, but found the noise reduction wore off after six months. For the third test section, the department is changing the pavement mix in an attempt to reduce road noise for the long term.
