Exelon clears first relicensing hurdle for Pa. nuclear plant

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission said it has accepted Exelon's license-renewal application for the Limerick Generating Station in Pennsylvania. "We would like to emphasize that the staff's review of [Exelon's application] will be very detailed and thorough," said Brian Holian, director of the NRC's license-renewal division. The operating licenses for the plant's two reactors will expire in 2024 and 2029.
