Experts warn of potential fallout from power-hungry electric vehicles

As large numbers of electric cars begin to roll onto U.S. highways, increased power demands could have an adverse affect on state energy grids, experts say. According to government estimates, the nation's power grid can sustain more than 150 million electric vehicles, but since distribution varies by region, problems could arise in individual neighborhoods, where each new EV has the potential to tax the grid as much as three houses.
