BLM mulls new fracking regulations for public lands

The Department of the Interior's Bureau of Land Management is considering new rules for hydraulic fracturing operations on federal lands. Under the rules, natural gas drillers would be required to meet well-integrity standards as well as divulge fracking chemicals to secure drilling permits. "We have the authority to move forward with our own rule-making to require such a disclosure and other best-management practices that we deem are feasible and appropriate," said BLM Director Robert Abbey.
