MessageMe denies SMS spam is a marketing tactic

Text message service MessageMe is assuring users in Singapore that an SMS spam they've received is not a marketing tactic. The spam told users that a friend on the network wanted to add them to its list, leading to concerns that personal data had been compromised. "Your privacy is of utmost importance, so we wish to inform you that this message is a hoax and entirely untrue," MessageMe said in a statement.
